All Metro D.C. congregations are invited to the Beginning a Culture of Generosity virtual educational opportunity this Fall.
The Metro D.C. Synod Stewardship & Mission Table has partnered with Mike Ward of GSB to offer a stewardship training program designed to equip congregational leaders with easy to implement materials and strategies so that congregations can:
- Stimulate generosity even through national economic uncertainty
- Stabilize and grow financial giving
- Teach Biblical stewardship principles
- Help your members discover generosity throughout the year
For the participating congregations this fall, the program aims to stabilize your 2020 giving to 2019 (pre-coronavirus) levels, with the potential for modest growth above that level for 2021.

Congregations in the Metro D.C. Synod that have recently worked with GSB and Mike Ward:
- Lord of Life, Fairfax
- Abiding Presence, Burke
- Holy Trinity, Falls Church
- Peace, Alexandria
- Peace, Waldorf
- Shepherd of the Hills, Haymarket
- Bethel, Manassas
Who Should Attend
Congregational leaders such as stewardship team members, council treasurers, and rostered ministers are invited to participate in 6 virtual educational sessions starting in early September.
Cost
The Metro D.C. Synod will cover a $100 discount for this educational opportunity, so the cost is only $350 per congregation (multiple people can attend from one congregation). This program may qualify for a $250 Thrivent Action Team grant, please speak with your Thrivent financial representative for more details.
