During their early years of service, newly called leaders to ELCA congregations learn much about doing ministry and develop lifelong learning habits.

First Call Theological Education (FCTE) is a three-year structured program of theological education designed to support and assist newly called leaders in the transition to rostered ministry and is required for all first call rostered leaders.

FCTE participants meet regularly in a ‚Äúcolleague group,” joining with other first call rostered leaders in the Metro D.C. Synod. This group is is led by a seasoned pastor in the synod, who serves as the colleague group mentor. Participants also attend the annual ELCA Region 8 First Call Theological Education Retreat held in November of each year.

For more information about the program, contact the Rev. Amy Thompson Sevimli, Assistant to the Bishop, by phone or asevimli(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)
