There’s a confetti emoji on many calendars this Oct. 31st, because the day marks 500 years since in 1517 Martin Luther posted 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany, spreading ideas and events known as the Reformation. On Oct. 31, 2017, take part in a commemoration event at Lutheran Church of the Reformation on Capitol Hill in person (tickets required) or via livestream. Bishop Richard H. Graham of our synod will join the Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton, ELCA presiding bishop, the Rev. Bill Gafkjen, Indiana-Kentucky Synod bishop, and Bill Horne, ELCA vice president, with other guests to explore “Looking Back & Called Forward: ELCA 500.” Hear ecumenical & inter-religious partners discuss learnings from our histories of division and dialogue, and stories of ELCA congregational vitality & leadership. Tickets (limited availability) from elca500.org. Livestream from elca.org/livestream.
