DESCRIPTION:Children’s spirituality begins from God’s love and gets nurtured through relational and life-giving Christian practices. However\, in the 21st century\, neoliberal ideologies and consumerist practices suppress children’s holistic flourishing\, and most churches’ ministries exacerbate the problem. \nBecause our ministering and parenting to children do not consider children spiritual enough\, and children’s experiences do not matter. \nTherefore\, this workshop\, led by Rev. DESCRIPTION:The FreeRide Middle School Youth Retreat is for youth in 6th-8th grade during which we will spend the weekend in community exploring the identity of God\, and the way in which God shapes who we are as individuals and as a community of disciples. This is a small group centered event so youth will be grouped with others in their same age/grade. You can expect: \n\nLarge group gatherings with worship and music\nPlenty of games will help form this weekend’s community\nService projects where youth apply what they’re learning to hands-on service\nWorkshops are also available for adult participants\n\nCost is $175 per person and scholarships are available. DESCRIPTION:Reboot\, Renew\, Resurrect: High School Youth Retreat\nJune 17-19\, 2022\nUnited Lutheran Seminary-Gettysburg Campus \nA unique leadership retreat planned and led by the seniors of the Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO)\, on the seminary campus in Gettysburg. The weekend is centered around creating a safe space for high schoolers to discuss the impact the pandemic and other things have had on their faith. Everyone adapted in their own way when church communities had to rapidly shift to worshiping apart. We wish to spend the weekend processing what was lost or what was different from our middle school and high school experiences\, and initiating meaningful conversations about how we can refocus our faith on the years ahead. \nSince youth events were particularly limited in recent years\, the seniors that planned the event are hoping to have a lively weekend in which everyone can be deeply engaged and which they can enjoy.
