In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. our area will see an influx of participants joining an ecumenical and inter-religious partnership.

ACT NOW: UNITED TO END RACISM

Tuesday evening, April 3 – Service of Worship in the Orthodox Tradition at St. Sophia Greek Orthdox Cathedral
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 4 – RALLY ON THE NATIONAL MALL, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursday, April 5 – Day of Action on Capitol Hill

The event’s being organized by the National Council of Churches in Christ in the USA, of which the ELCA is a founding member. An ELCA press release summarizes the rally’s three key emphases: 1) awaken to the truth that racism is evil and hurts us all; 2) confront racism through truth-telling and action to right the wrong; and 3) transform the hearts, minds, and behaviors of people and institutions (ELCA presiding bishop to participate in rally to end racism” – 2/5/18).
