New Gifts of Hope Director: Welcome Natalie Cain!

Group 236

Join us in welcoming our new Gifts of Hope Director, Natalie Cain. Natalie will be working with Carolyn Sowinski to transition into this new role before Carolyn retires after serving as the GOH Director for 9 years! Thank you Carolyn for your dedication & ministry in the synod!

Born and raised in North Carolina, Natalie grew up attending a Lutheran church. She has been a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alexandria since 2013; she has been a council member since 2014 (currently serving as president) and is also serving on the recently formed racial justice team. Her history of volunteer work and engaging volunteers to achieve a shared mission led her to the role of the Gifts of Hope Director.

Natalie has 12 years of experience organizing and executing professional meetings and projects in the nonprofit sector, mostly focusing on continued education for medical professionals. She has experience working with a variety of stakeholders, including volunteers, vendor partners, board members, and donors/donor prospects. Whether working with top oncologists around the world or U.S. citizens who value our national parks, Natalie recognizes the importance of connecting with individuals on a personal level.

Natalie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology at North Carolina State University before moving to the northern Virginia area, where she currently resides with her husband, son, and two cats. She enjoys writing, reading, yoga, and traveling.

Welcome to the team Natalie!
