Joint Christian Advocacy Summit

May 5 - May 7

The Metro D.C. Synod’s Middle East Peace Team (MEPT) is seeking your help in providing housing for participants coming from around the country to the Joint Christian Advocacy Summit, May 5-7, in Washington, D.C.

The MEPT is hoping that this service of the synod will help to reduce the costs for participants and also provide an opportunity to connect with Lutheran advocates from around the ELCA.

Please contact the co-chairs of the MEPT (Pr. Mark Brown and Pr. Renata Eustis) if members of your congregation have space and willingness to host some Lutheran participants in the Summit for two or more nights (the evenings of May 4, 5, 6, and 7). Or perhaps your church has a guest facility?

The theme of the Summit is “Do Right; Seek Justice: Christians Uniting Against Oppression in Palestine and Israel”. The ELCA is one of the many denominations sponsoring the event and the Rev. Khader El-Yateem, Executive Director for Service and Justice for the ELCA, will be a keynote speaker. Learn more.

There will be a pre-Summit gathering of Lutherans beginning at 11 a.m. on May 5 (location TBD). Most of the sessions on May 5 and 6 will be at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1500 9th Street NW, Washington, D.C., accessible by Metro (Yellow & Green Lines) at Mt. Vernon Sq Station and Shaw–Howard University Station. May 7 will be Hill meetings.

Finally, please consider attending the Summit with your guests! Register online.
