Empathy and Compassion

Loving God, instill in us a spirit of deep empathy. May we listen with compassion and be willing to learn from the lived experiences of those who suffer injustice. Create spaces of trust and understanding through our words and actions.  Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

Humility and Willingness to Learn

God of wisdom, may we lead and act with humility. May we acknowledge our own biases and be open to continual learning about racial injustice and the experiences of marginalized communities. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

Advocacy for Reconciliation

God of reconciliation, empower us to be agents of peace and healing. May we guide the church in fostering dialogue and building bridges between communities divided by race or ethnicity. Make our Synod be a place of unity and grace. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

Commitment to Equality and Inclusion

Inclusive God, we pray that you help us promote equity in all aspects of church life. May we ensure that all people, regardless of race, are valued, heard, and uplifted within the Synod’s leadership and ministries. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

Integrity and Accountability

Holy God, grant us integrity in thought, word, and deed. May we embody the values of justice and love,  holding ourselves accountable to lead in ways that reject racism and cultivate fairness. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

Advocacy for Systemic Change

God of transformation, empower us to confront unjust structures and systems. May we work for policies and practices that promote racial justice, both within the Synod and in the wider community. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

Commitment to Prayer and Spiritual Guidance

God of peace, remind us that prayer is power. Inspire us to guide the church in prayer for justice, reconciliation, and healing. May we all seek Your guidance as we strive to love our neighbors and do Your will. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

Ability to Inspire Action

God of mission, bless us with the gifts to inspire action and commitment. May our leadership mobilize the Synod toward meaningful efforts that dismantle racism and build beloved community. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

Shared Responsibility in the Gospel Mission

Faithful God, remind us that the work of racial equity belongs to all of us. Strengthen the Synod Council, the Racial Equity Team, rostered ministers, and lay leaders to walk together in this sacred work. Teach us how to live out unity in our call to proclaim the Gospel in word and deed. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
