Capital Pride Festival
June 7
This is a special time of year to reaffirm the visibility of the Lutheran commitment to LGBTQIA+ support. You’re invited to two events on Pride weekend, June 7 and 8. Marching in the Pride parade and volunteering at the RIC booth. We hope to see you there! Happy Pride Month!!!
To participate in the parade on Saturday, June 7, meet at Luther Place Memorial Church, 1226 Vermont Ave, NW, Washington, D.C. 20005. When you arrive, please come to the door at N Street and knock loudly. The meeting time is set for 9:30 am. Parade formation begins at 10 am with different sets of groups staggered to enter until the parade starts at 2 pm. Capital Pride will confirm our place in the parade soon. The group will walk together to the entrance of the parade queue, which is at Rhode Island and 15th Street. From there, the Capital Pride team will direct you where to go!
The RIC booth at the Pride street festival is a ministry of the Synod RIC team hosted on the Sunday of Pride weekend, June 8. The booth runs from 12pm to 7pm. This is our second year in a row hosting the booth, and it’s a great way to show God’s love to the LGBTQ+ community! To be a part of the RIC booth volunteer here: Volunteer Sign-Up
If you are attending Synod Assembly and interested in heading into the city to support our parade-marching siblings afterwards, sign up to receive information and updates! We will head over to the College Park Metro Station after the close of Assembly and take the Green Line into the city (likely getting off at Archives/Navy Memorial and walking to the disbanding site).
