Feeding Neighbors: Augustana Lutheran, Washington, D.C.
Augustana Lutheran Church in Washington, D.C. has been partnering with Martha’s Table to feed neighbors for over a decade. Through the daily distribution of hot meals and bagged lunches throughout the city, Martha’s Table is a lifeline for many, and they depend on community partners to meet the need. With the help of the synod’s Feeding Our Neighbors Together grant, Augustana was able to purchase food for 500 lunches, which were assembled during a vibrant “Sandwich Sunday” event on March 22 and distributed through Martha’s Table. Thanks be to God: there was enough remaining in Augustana‘s grant to support a second Sandwich Sunday…that’s 1,000 meals for neighbors in D.C.!
