Feeding Neighbors: Christ the Servant, Reston, VA
In 2024, Christ the Servant established the CTS Market. Shelves in the church kitchen were stocked with microwaveable meals, quick snacks, socks, gloves, hats, and various personal hygiene items. Christ the Servant, located in a shopping plaza in Reston, VA, ministers to an unhoused population who call the plaza their home. When they come to the church, they can “shop the shelves” and heat up food to be eaten right away. With the generosity of the synod’s Feeding Our Neighbors Together grant, Christ the Servant has been able to restock the market shelves more frequently, allowing neighbors to be fed and cared for.
Have you received a Feeding Our Neighbors Together grant? Don’t forget to share your story with the synod! We’re sharing our churches’ creative endeavors because when we work together, the ministry possibilities are endless.
