Feeding Neighbors: Emmanuel Lutheran, Vienna, VA

The Emmanuel Lutheran Church Community Team in Vienna, VA has been busy feeding their neighbors twice a month at two locations in Fairfax County. This spring, they witnessed an increase in people in need. When they received their Feeding Our Neighbors Together grant from the synod, they were still in winter meal mode, which consisted of hot chicken, rice, beans and corn casserole served with fresh baked cookies and milk and water. They also offer a non-perishable meal consisting of tuna, crackers, granola and peanut butter. They are currently serving their summer meal of turkey and cheese sandwiches with a side of potato or macaroni salad along with fresh baked cookies and beverages. With the increase in food prices that everyone is experiencing, they were very grateful for the grant to keep up with the rising costs and increase to almost 400 meals a month on their two evening deliveries.
