Church employers may be eligible for health care tax credit of up to 25% according to a document published January 6, 2011, by the Church Alliance Core Lawyer Working Group’s Health Care Reform sub-committee to help church-affiliated employers understand the Small Business Health Care Tax Credit.

The document was shared, in its entirety, by the ELCA Board of Pensions as an educational tool for ELCA employers. It should not be considered tax or legal advice. The ELCA Board of Pensions, which reproduced the Church Alliance document in a January 2011 update on health care reform and its affects on employer-sponsored health coverage, is an active member of the Church Alliance which monitors federal and state legislative and regulatory activities related to church benefit programs on behalf of nearly 40 denominations.
