SYNASM synergy
Gentle ribbing from President Michael Cooper-White of Gettysburg Seminary when addressing the 2013 Metro D.C. Synod Assembly pointed out that our oft-used abbreviation – “SYNASM” – is not self-explanatory.
There is such a thing out there, but it seems unwise to dabble in the terminology without an advanced tech degree. Something about “synthesis of parallel and timed constructs.”
But at root, we know “syn” means “together.” And the theme of the 2014 Metro D.C. Synod centers on just that: We are the church together.
So as we get ready for our gathering on June 21, 2014, I think SynAsm will continue to suffice as shorthand. Synergistic-ally, we will live into our promise and potential.
