Fed and hungry
After a series of fruitful lunchtime workshops and discussions, the Saturday afternoon session began with a vote approving the Mission Spending Plan for the synod.
Moving again into Reference and Counsel, the assembly passed two resolutions. The first, a resolution expressing thanks and gratitude to all those who helped make this assembly possible, passed with a rousing round of applause. The second, a resolution regarding racism and the events in Charleston, passed with strong support after healthy and careful discussion on wording.
The bishop closed this portion by reminding the assembly that the work to combat racism must be carried forward primarily by individuals here in attendance. The message of hope and honest discussion should be carried forth into the world by all of us.
The assembly finishes up by sharing together in the Lord’s Supper, fed for the work as we remain hungry for justice.
