Light in the darkness
Reacting to recent events in Paris, “a night of grief, anger, loss,” the ELCA presiding bishop reminds us of John 1:5 via Twitter: “Christ is the light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it” (11/14/15).
“We pray for the victims of the attacks, as well as for those mourning and seeking consolation,” said the Rev. Munib A. Younan, president of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), and the Rev. Martin Junge, LWF general secretary, in a joint statement (11/14/15).”The present time calls for people of good will and followers of different religions to come together and work together for peace, justice and respect of human life, including love for the neighbor,” the statement continued. “This is a time for churches, synagogues and mosques to pray and work even harder for peace within and among their communities, and to do this together wherever possible.” Read the full document here.
