Post-Election Prayer – November 12
Prayer provided by Rev. Gloria Cline-Smythe from Good Samaritan Lutheran Church in Lanham, MD
With faith in God let us draw nearer to make our gratitude known to Him for His wonderful acts over the last couple of Campaign and Voting months.
Your response will be:
“Hear our Prayer ..”
LEADER: Gracious and ever loving God, We turn to you with hearts full of joy and thankfulness for blowing away the dark clouds of fear and uncertainty as we now see your hand at work in not only conducting the November 2020 General Elections but also making the results available to the people of these United States of America.
L: Lord in your mercy …
Response: ..
LEADER: Pray for our President and Vice-President – Elect, protect them and their loved ones constantly from all harm and danger; may good health be theirs, endow them with wisdom, knowledge and understanding, enable them to assiduously serve this Nation, providing the quality of Leadership the world expects of us.
L: Lord in your mercy
Response:
LEADER: Bring us to the realization that no matter what happens there will still be disgruntled and selfish people who would not be satisfied with the relative calm that has prevailed since the results were published but we continue to pray for them to be touched.
L: Lord in your mercy
Response:
LEADER: We ask dear God that you speak peace, love for our neighbors, reconciliation, forgiveness and healing that many have been forced to confront and deal with until this time of renewed hope with a Woman becoming the first in History to become Vice President -Elect.
L: Lord in your mercy
Response:
LEADER: Praise and Glory be to you that in the midst of COVID-19, you protected us in those Voting lines as challenging as it may have been that one more person should not die from failing to observe the Protocols, for you had paid the price at Calvary for the loss of all human lives.
L: Lord in your mercy
Response:
LEADER: As you give us this great opportunity for a fresh start because your Word tells us: ” behold I make all things new”, may we as Americans never forget “… we are one Nation under God”…” and endeavor to rise above all our differences, skin pigmentation to see the blessings and benefits that can be achieved in the years that lay ahead.
L: Lord in your mercy
Response:
LEADER – this is the month of two of our National Holidays , we thank you for our Veterans who gave the best of their lives, some paying the ultimate sacrifice that today our Freedom is guaranteed and equally do we thank you for Thanksgiving Day marking the beginning of the Holiday Season but for those who lost loved ones to COVID-19, it will not be the same. Holy Father be present at every table where one family member is missing and bring them comfort.
Hear all our prayers and petitions dear God that have been humbly made before you in these Post Elections season while the Pandemic is beginning to spike again, Amen.
