In the News: Mosaic Celebrates “God’s Work, Our Hands”
Colorfully and creatively, young people at St. John’s Lutheran in Rockville completed a glorious mosaic to welcome and inspire members. The project is featured in the June 2010 issue of The Lutheran magazine.
Introduced to the ELCA’s tagline during last summer’s ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans, “God’s work, our hands” became the artwork’s central theme.
“My youth group… spent almost 300 hours overall designing and working on this project. One of our adult church members is an artist, and he took our ideas and helped us develop them into the final design,” said Marial Shilling. “The printed words around the frame are from Deuteronomy 24:19 – ‘…that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.’ “
