Best business meeting EVER
I always count myself lucky to start staff meetings with prayer – that’s a perk of working at the synod office that not many of my friends can claim.
Likewise, with worship and mission as our anchors, people from across the Metro D.C. region are packing up laptops, notepads and maybe even Bibles along with their intellects and spirits to contribute to our life as a regional expression of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Synod. The Synod Assembly is our highest legislative body.
From looking at what we can do about bullying and harassment to deciding on compensation guidelines for our pastors and other rostered leaders, we’ve got lots of interesting things to do. Workshops will engage us with skill building and information exchange to bring back to our home congregations and communities, such as facing the stigma of HIV/AIDS and deepening our understanding of Oromo people seeking asylum in our country.
And our speaker! I’ve only heard great things about Joe Myers and look forward to hearing what he has to say.
There’s more. Some of us will discover it in Leesburg for ourselves. Others are welcome to check in here, on Twitter and Facebook to get a taste of it. Far from dreading it, I’m looking forward to the best business meeting EVER.
