Advent in the World: Where are you finding…
Advent is a season of waiting, watching, and preparing—not just for the celebration of Christ’s birth, but for the arrival of God’s promises in our lives. It beckons us to pause and remember who we are and whose we are. It invites us to rekindle the flames of hope, peace, joy, and love that are at the heart of the Gospel message.
This Advent, the Metro D.C. Synod is offering a series of reflections to guide you through this sacred season. These reflections encourage you to embrace the themes of Advent, not just as ideals, but as tangible realities in your life and in the world around you.
We invite you to participate by reflecting on where you are finding hope, peace, joy, and love in your daily life. Is it in a quiet moment of prayer? A kind word shared with a stranger? A community standing together in justice and compassion? Share your stories and discoveries with others—on social media, in your congregation, or with loved ones—as a witness to the light of Christ breaking into the world.
Let Advent be a time to pause, reflect, and prepare your heart. Together, as a synod, let us watch for the ways God is moving among us, and let us rekindle the flames that guide us toward the promise of Christmas.
