The Metro D.C. Synod is in Companion Synod relationship with the ILS. This relationship is built upon an accompaniment model of global mission, giving all parties the chance to experience the rich gifts and witness of Lutheran churches in different contexts.

A delegation from Metro D.C. is travelling in El Salvador in November 2009. They visit our companions at a very difficult time, as the community mourns the death of loved ones and begins to rebuild after devastating flooding and mudslides triggered by heavy rains flanking Hurricane Ida earlier in the month.

The synod has begun to collect financial resources to respond to this disaster as has Lutheran World Relief. Our delegation will help assess additional ways we can meet emergency needs of our brothers and sisters in the region of the ILS.
