Advent Preaching Workshop & Worship for Rostered Ministers

As we approach one of the most beautiful and busy seasons of the year, Advent, the Metro D.C. and Delaware-Maryland Synods warmly invite rostered ministers to an inspiring event designed to renew your spirit and invigorate your ministry with Reverend Heidi Neumark. This gathering will offer a space for reflection, rejuvenation, and connection with fellow ministers, equipping you with the strength and inspiration needed to embrace the Advent season with renewed passion and purpose. We look forward to sharing this meaningful experience with you as we prepare together for the joyous journey ahead.
The Advent Preaching Workshop & Worship will be on Wednesday, October 16, at Saint Luke Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, MD.

Reverend Heidi Neumark
Reverend Neumark is a semi-retired ELCA pastor who spent most of her pastoral ministry in New York City, first for 19 years at Transfiguration Lutheran Church in the South Bronx and later for 20 years at Trinity Lutheran Church of Manhattan/Iglesia Luterana Trinidad.
Pastor Neumark grew up in New Jersey. She completed her undergraduate studies at Brown University and received her Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. She spent a year at an ecumenical seminary in Argentina, where she also worked with Servicio Paz y Justicia, a human rights organization.
Pastor Neumark was a founding member of South Bronx Churches, an ecumenical community organizing group that trained local leaders, built hundreds of low-cost homes, and established a top-ranked public high school
In addition to pastoring and speaking at events around the country, Pastor Neumark also enjoys writing. Her experiences in congregational and community ministry in the Bronx led to a highly acclaimed book, Breathing Space: A Spiritual Journey in the South Bronx (Beacon Press). Her second book is about the discovery of her Jewish roots and the story of her grandfather, who died at the Terezin concentration camp: Hidden Inheritance: Family Secrets, Memory and Faith. Her latest book was released in 2020: Sanctuary: Being Christian in the Wake of Trump.
Pastor Neumark is enjoying her retirement by serving a 6-point parish near her home in Kingston, NY. She has been married to her husband, Gregorio, for 41 years, and they have two adult married children and three beautiful grandchildren.
