Leadership Academy: Crucial Conversations

Join Racial Equity Team member Duke Taylor on Thursday, September 19, for an online Leadership Academy workshop at 7:00 PM to learn how to navigate conflict through Crucial Conversations: Techniques for When Opinions Vary.
There are issues that everyone purposely, or unconsciously, avoids especially regarding race, political issues, or sexual identity. With social media and the news cycle fueling discord, conversations can veer unexpectedly into highly emotional topics with the potential to spark conflict and threaten relationships. If a church wishes to address such issues, the possibility for high-conflict conversations emerges no matter how loving its intention is.
Crucial Conversations is a set of techniques to use during an interaction where opinions vary and emotions run strong to maintain a relationship rather than irreparably damage it. These conversations might occur anytime and anywhere when we touch upon sensitive topics, especially when least expected. This workshop will focus on recognizing when a conversation becomes crucial, and introduce ways to prepare your heart by mastering your story, making it safe to state your path while exploring others, and moving to action while facing tough challenges.
