“Giving to God” is the theme for the Fall Session of the 2009 Metro D.C. Synod Assembly — and that means stewardship of our whole lives, including our environment.

You’ll notice an abundance of recycling bins, low trash lunches, and coffee mugs made of something other than Styrofoam at our gathering this fall. You’re an important part of the synod’s efforts to care for creation. We encourage you to carpool to Good Shepherd, bring your own mug, and try to print out as little paper as possible in preparation for the assembly.

greenchurch85Crow about your green church! Many congregations in our synod have taken significant steps toward reducing their carbon footprint, reducing their trash and more. Does your congregation have such an initiative? If so, please share your photos and a blurb about your stewardship of the earth by Friday, September 11th so that we can tell others about it. Directions were sent to congregations on Tuesday, September 8th.
