Katharyn Wheeler

Katharyn Wheeler has served as the Administrative Assistant to the Bishop for the Metro D.C. Synod since 2015 and coordinates the Synod Youth+Family Ministry. She is an approved candidate for Word and Service in the ELCA to be ordained as a Deacon. Katharyn also serves on the Board of Lutheran Social Services National Capital Area, as the chair of the Metro D.C. Synod Domestic Hunger Grant Team, and as a member of the Racial Equity and Reconciling in Christ Teams. She received a Bachelors of Music Education in Choral music from Indiana University and spent three years teaching choir in Cincinnati before going into church administration. She is the mother of two children and wife of a US Navy musician. In her free time, she is an avid reader and loves the outdoors.
