Support the Local Ministry Fund in 2022!

Group 236

Dear Friends in Christ,

The Metro D.C. Synod has a vision for the future. A vision that will inspire all members of our synod with a spirit of generosity and abundance. This initiative is two-fold:

  1. Focus on building a culture of abundance and generosity. This is accomplished through thoughtful storytelling, connections to others, seminars, educational opportunities, electronic and social media communication.  All celebrating and sharing what God is doing through the ministries and people of the Metro D.C. Synod.
  2. We are laying the strong roots for current and future ministries of our synod. This side of the initiative builds the financial foundation for the current and future ministries of our synod. This is the “something new” that we are inviting all members of the Metro D.C. Synod to participate in through the creation of a Local Ministry Fund.

The gifts given to this fund will stay 100% with the ministries of the Metro D.C. Synod, which differentiates this fund from your Mission Support gifts. As portions of each Mission Support gift goes toward national and global efforts of the ELCA, your individual gift to the Local Ministry Fund will go 100% towards funding the currently active and newly visioned ministries in our local communities and congregations in the Metro D.C. Synod.

The Local Ministry Fund will be solely dedicated to support the churches and ministries of our synod on an annual basis. Through your generosity, we will continue to build and strengthen the following:

  • Transformational Leadership Support
  • Racial, Gender, and Climate Justice Ministries
  • Cultural Competency for Life and Ministry
  • Continue Funding Sabbath Mini-Grants for Rostered Ministers and beyond

The 2022 goal is to raise $25,000 by the end of November and lay the foundation for our Local Ministry Fund.

We hope you can participate, invite others to participate, and help build this new effort for the future of our ministry together!

Thank you for your consideration and continual generosity,

The Reverend David C. Shank, CFRE
