Synod Assembly Update from Bishop Ortiz

Grace and Peace from our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.

It’s that time of year. It’s preparing for synod assembly time of year. And this one will be like nothing we’ve done before. This assembly will be completely online and the Theme is Alive: Inspired by the Holy Spirit, which is timely because of the Pentecost season that approaches and the Holy Spirit’s invitation to all of us to come alive- to live, profess, and prophesy boldly and courageously; as if each of us have been called, anointed, and declared beloved by the God of the universe for such a time as this. 

With this invitation at the forefront of our time and work together, we will gather as an assembly, Friday night, all day Saturday and then we invite you to participate in synod-wide worship on Sunday June 6 at 10:00 AM, which we will available on the Synod website, YouTube and Facebook pages.

Registration Deadline is May 15

This year, we cannot accept any late registrations, changes or transfers, so please be sure to register by May 15! That way you will be sure to receive your goodie bag-also new this year- and access to our online voting system!

Many things will be different this year due to the digital nature of the event, so we are providing training sessions so you can be sure you know how to login, vote and join in breakout sessions.

Also featured throughout this assembly are the three synod themes we have committed to this year as church together: Sabbath, Cultural Competency and Transformational leadership.

There will be workshop sessions over lunch on Saturday with an opportunity to have more in-depth discussion around these themes and an opportunity to engage in conversation with our chaplain for the Assembly, Pr. Ben Hogue or with Ms. Mikka McCracken, Executive Director for Innovation of our denomination and the ELCA representative for our assembly.
