We’re letting our network know what’s going on through the first 2015 Synod Assembly Update networked email (2/23/15). Here’s what it said.

YOU MEAN YOU HAVEN’T BEEN THINKING OF JUNE?

15synasmsplitsquarestripe20Your Synod Assembly Planning Committee has gotten the ball rolling, arranging for a meaningful and engaging get-together this summer when the Metro D.C. Synod meets for its annual gathering on June 19-20.

It’s too soon to register, but details are being posted to the synod website as they are finalized, such as…

  • Our theme: “Claimed, Gathered, Sent”
  • Announcement of a LOST AND FOUND concert on Friday night
  • Announcement of our keynote speaker, the Rev. Dr. Sarah Hinlicky Wilson; and of our ELCA churchwide representative, Mr. Carlos E. Peña
WE DON’T ‘DUCK, DUCK, GOOSE’

Of early importance are preparations for electing synod leadership. On the synod website find a list of positions up for election, including job descriptions. We will be electing a Treasurer, members of the Synod Council, members of the Committee on Discipline, and Voting Members to the 2016 ELCA Churchwide Assembly. All nominations and Candidate Information Forms need to be submitted by April 30, 2015.

ON OUR WAY REPORTING

As long as we’re thinking ahead… leaders of synod-affiliated ministry units need to put reporting on 2014 activity on the radar. All reports should be submitted by April 30, 2015 for sharing with 2015 Synod Assembly Voting Members. Please contact the synod office if you have questions.
