Sacred Ground Series on Race & Faith
July 17, 2022
Registration is now open for a second installment of “Sacred Ground,” a zoom discussion series on race and faith. This series is welcome to congregations in small groups and to all rostered leaders. Sacred Ground is a 12-session spiritual journey, grounded in the example of Jesus Christ and the power of scripture, prayer, God’s grace, to help to achieve racial equity.
Through this series, you are invited to:
- walk back through history and reflect on the situations and circumstances that have contributed to where we find ourselves today, including current challenges and divisions.
- reflect on our personal family histories and stories, as well as important narratives that shape the collective American story.
- watch documentaries and engage readings to help inform and enlighten.
Sacred Ground is a rich and varied curriculum focused on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian Pacific Americans as their histories intersect with European American history.
After watching the documentaries and engaging the readings, groups will gather on Zoom every other week for conversations—all while grounded in our call to faith, hope, and love. Past participants have said that the Sacred Ground experience is transformational and life giving. It goes deep and covers the multiple levels of racism. You will be able to explore your concerns, questions and experience about racism as it relates to your faith and to society.
Sessions will begin mid-July and specific dates/times will be set by the groups individually.
