Feeding Neighbors: Abiding Presence, Burke, VA

Recently, the Synod offered Feeding Our Neighbors Together mini-grants for congregations to feed neighbors in need. We asked congregations to get creative and to share their story with us so that we could disseminate it to the wider synod. When we work together, the ministry possibilities are endless.

Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in Burke, VA used their grant to purchase eggs and butter for food bag distribution. Members of the congregation signed up online to donate other food items, and soon there was a buzz in the community. People showed up. Bags got packed. People received food. It was easy, low cost, and easily replicable (although Pastor Meredith Keseley might not replicate the “heating burritos at 4:00 AM” part!).
